IELTS Writing task 2: Is It Better To Live In The Countryside?

MẪU IELTS WRITING TASK 2
Topic 6: Many people believe that it is easier to have a healthy lifestyle in the countryside. Other believe that there are health benefits of living in cities. Discuss both views and give your opinions.
My essay:
Choosing a good living environment is always a topic of interest. Some people think that living in the countryside is good for the health while others believe cities provide more health advantages. In my opinion, I agree with the latter view.
There are several advantages to living in a rural place. First, rural people can enjoy the fresh air, relaxed lifestyle, and live close to wildlife. All of which can help improve the local’s mental health. Furthermore, since the countryside offers spacious houses, gardens, and farms, people can become self-sufficient in food as much as they like. A clean and fresh source of food is definitely good for their overall health. Thus, it is easy to see why some desire to settle down in a rural province. However, public facilities particularly healthcare systems in the countryside are likely to be poor and less available. This means people with health problems would be disadvantaged. Another drawback is that the standards of living are generally low; many rural families tend to have low incomes or even suffer from poverty. As a result, they cannot afford to look after themselves, which has a negative impact on their well-being. Obviously, country life is not as good as it is often thought.
The city life tends to be very active and bustling. Large cities are crowded with people, factories, and vehicles. Consequently, the air is not clean and it is far more difficult for city people to enjoy wild animals. Nevertheless, big cities provide a wide range of public facilities including gyms, swimming pools, parks, and suchlike, which provide different types of recreational activities for people to enhance their mental and physical health. In addition, the availability of healthcare services in the urban can take good care of the public’s health. Finally, as the quality of living in cities is higher than in the countryside, city residents can afford to pursue a healthy lifestyle. For instance, with better incomes, they are able to attend fitness training programs and buy quality food products, etc… Generally, city people tend to enjoy a better lifestyle.
In conclusion, although the countryside has several health advantages, in my view, cities offer far more of these.
