Topic: some people think that all international travel can do is cause conflict between people from different countries.
To some extent, do you agree or disagree with this view?

My essay:
Globalization and advancements in transport have made international travel more accessible than ever before. However, some people are concerned that the influx of new arrivals might lead to tension between locals and foreign visitors. Personally, I completely disagree with this view.
On the one hand, I am aware that in some places, foreign tourists clash with the local community due to their lack of respect for the local environment and traditions when they first arrive. For example, in India, it is customary to eat food using one’s hands rather than cutlery, which can initially disgust many foreign visitors who are unaccustomed to this tradition. However, it should be noted that most hostility is accidental rather than intentional. People may disobey some rules and conventions, mainly because they have never encountered them before. Such situations are more likely to improve over time when visitors from different countries increase their knowledge of local culture.

International travel has significant advantages. First, it opens up opportunities for global business development. Many entrepreneurs are interested not only in the domestic market but also in the overseas market. Therefore, they should learn the culture of a country before winning over local people. In turn, locals should show their hospitality to visitors to build mutual trust. People in both nations involved share a view that the acceptance of each other’s cultural background is crutial for successful cooperation. Additionally, overseas tourism fosters better mutual understanding and alleviates offenses or prejudices between the two nations concerned. For example, as the Vietnamese, we used to consider Westerners, particularly Americans, as our foes because of the Vietnam War between 1954 and 1975. Nevertheless, we now welcome all Western tourists with goodwill. Obviously, it enhances understanding and facilitates the world of business.
In conclusion, though international travel may initially cause conflict between countries, I believe its long-term benefits are much greater.
