The charts below show Australian people in different age groups who used the internet for three reasons.

    Exercise 3: bar chart

    The charts illustrates Australian people in different age groups using the internet for three reasons namely social networking, emailing, and paying bills online or online banking.

    Overall, it is clear that the majority of Australian people using the internet for emailing. Furthermore, the young mainly use the internet to access social networking and emailing, but the elderly people only use the internet for emailing.

    The proportion of people in all age groups who used the internet for emailing accounted for 100% while the figures for social networking, and paying bills online or online banking are much lower, at 60%, and 65% respectively. 98% of young people using the internet to access social networking whereas the figure for elderly people made up only 20%.

    Looking at the third chart in detail, we can see that the percentages of four age groups including 25-34, 35-44, 45-54, and 55-64 using the internet for paying bills online or online banking are relatively equal (60% each). Finally, the figure for six age groups using the internet for emailing are relatively comparable, at around 80%.
